Ellis Claims Bucs' Second Straight FCSAA Player of the Week Award

TALLAHASSEE, Fla.- For the second straight week, a Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneer has been named the FCSAA State Player of the Week as announced by the association on Tuesday. One week after Jermaine Marshall was named the Player of the Week, sophomore guard Keon Ellis gets the nod in Week 10.

Ellis led FSW to two more wins this week, pushing their season long winning streak to 16 games.  He filled up just about every column of the stat sheet in the wins, averaging 22.0 points, 8.0 rebounds, 3.0 blocks, 3.0 steals, and 2.5 assists per game in wins over St. Petersburg and Hillsborough.  He shot 59% from the field in the two contests and connected on 5 of 8 from three point land, good for a 63% mark.  Wednesday he had a pedestrian, by his standards, 15 points and 8 rebounds against the Titans, but Saturday he went off once again, scoring 29 points and pulling down 8 boards against the Hawks.

Ellis has been electric for the Bucs of late, boosting up his scoring average to 18.6 points per game while shooting 56% from the field on the year.  Through six conference games this season, Ellis is averaging 25.7 points per game and is shooting 59% from the field and over 50% from the three point line.

It is his first FCSAA Player of the Week award.

Ellis and the Bucs are currently ranked 2nd in the NJCAA with a 23-1 overall record on the year.  They will take a perfect 6-0 conference record on the road on Saturday when they take on State College of Florida in Bradenton in a 4 PM tip.
