Fitz-Gerald's Record Setting Day Earns Him FCSAA Player of the Week Honors
TALLAHASSEE, Fla.- After clubbing a program record three home runs and driving in seven in the Florida SouthWestern Buccaneers Suncoast Conference opener against Polk State on Saturday, Bucs first baseman Hunter Fitz-Gerald was honored by the state Monday by being named the FCSAA Player of the Week.

Fitz-Gerald began the week by homering for the third straight game in an 11-2 win over Pasco-Hernando.  Friday he extended his season long hit streak to 10 games when he doubled and scored a run in a 6-5 loss to the Bobcats. His career day came on Saturday though as the Bucs kicked off Suncoast Conference play against Polk State as he launched not one, not two, but three home runs and drove in seven to lead FSW past the Eagles 15-5. He becomes the first player in program history to homer three times in a game.

Prior to Fitz-Gerald being named the Player of the Week Monday, he homered again and added a triple in FSW's 8-7 extra innings loss to the Eagles.  With that he has now hit safely in 12 straight games, recording an extra base hit in 11 of the 12 contests.

Fitz-Gerald leads FSW in average (.413), hits (31), doubles (9), triples (3), home runs (7), RBI (24), on base percentage (.516), and slugging percentage (.893) on the season.

Fitz-Gerald and the Bucs are back in action on Wednesday when they travel to Winter Haven to take on Polk State in the rubber game of the three game set, beginning at 6 PM at Bing Tyus Yard.
