Coming Off Sweep, Bucs Remain in Top 15

CHARLOTTE, N.C.- The Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers stuck in the top 15 of the NJCAA National Rankings for the seventh straight week, checking in at #15 as released by the National Office on Tuesday.

The Bucs rebounded from being swept for the first time this season, by sweeping a Suncoast Conference series against South Florida State over the weekend to improve to 32-11 overall.  The sweep has gotten the Bucs back into the thick of things in the race for an FCSAA State Tournament playoff spot with nine games left to go in the regular season.

The week eight poll featured 19 of the 20 teams from the week seven poll, but only #1 Wabash Valley and #9 Crowder remained in the same place.  The top five saw a shuffle from 2-5 where Central Florida and Wallace-Dothan moved up three spots and Walters State and Northwest Florida State rounded it out. Gordon State and Cowley were this week's big winners, moving up from #14 and #16 to #7 and #10 respectively.  The Bucs were within the group of tumblers that included John A. Logan falling from #7 to #14 and Salt Lake dropping from #17 to #11.

The Bucs are back in action on Wednesday when they open up a key three game series on the road at St. Petersburg in a 6 PM start in Clearwater.
