CLEVELAND, Ohio- After leading the Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers to another outstanding year on and off the court and the playing fields, Bucs Director of Athletics George Sanders has been honored by NACDA by being named one of their 2025 Athletics Directors of the Year.
Sanders is in his eighth year as the Director of Athletics with the Bucs and 11th overall in the FSW Athletic Department this year. He has led the Purple and Aqua to unimaginable success which has been highlighted by six NJCAA National Championships, 20 Conference Championships, and 14 trips to the NJCAA National Tournament across the Bucs five sports. But it hasn't just been wins and losses that have stood out for the Bucs as under Sanders' tutelage, FSW has seen nine student-athletes earn Academic All-American honors and multiple teams earn team academic awards.
Along with his work at FSW, Sanders has also served in a number of leadership roles inside Region VIII and the NJCAA. He has served as NJCAA Region VIII Women's Director and NJCAA Region VIII Women's Commissioner, as well as serving as a member of the NJCAA Women's Basketball and Volleyball committees.
Only four Athletic Directors at each level earn the prestigious award each year. This year Sanders earned the award alongside Shannon Percell of Green River, Brian Rowan of Rowan College- Gloucester, and Mark Tucker of Surrey.
Sanders will be honored and receive his award at the annual NACDA Convention in Orlando this summer.
