38 Bucs Earn NJCAA All-Academic Team Honors

CHARLOTTE, N.C.- Following another strong season on the court and in the field for the Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers, their accomplishments in the classroom once again matched that success as 38 Bucs were named to the NJCAA All-Academic Teams on Thursday for posting a 3.60 or better GPA for the 2023-2024 school year.

Student-athletes from all five Buccaneer teams were represented on the All-Academic Teams with the FSW Baseball Team leading the way with 13 selections while the Bucs Men's Basketball Team placed a program record four student-athletes on the list. 

Nine Bucs were 1st Team All-Academic picks with perfect 4.0 GPAs this year.  That group included Adam Dowler, Evan Kircher, Nik Pereira, and Nate Ward from Baseball, Sietske Drijvers, Maddy Golka, and Jenna Teakert from Softball, and Sarah Owona and Nina Boledovicova from Women's Basketball and Volleyball respectively.

2nd Team All-Academic members included Abby Toeniskoetter, Clara Maidantchik, Anica Bobic, and Sara Gasparini from Volleyball, Reis Jones, Jaehshon Thomas, and Karmani Gregory from Men's Basketball, Luca Danos and Luke Geske from Baseball, Virginia Mambelli and Katey McGee from Softball, and Federica Lagana from Women's Basketball.

The Bucs 3rd Team selections were Michael McAloose, Logan O'Leary, Cooper Clapp, Abel Albarran, Drake Flowers, Matthew Shumate, and Reyn Watson from Baseball, Ella Moore, Nicole Edmiaston, and Skylar Brennan from Softball, Lisa Le Roy, Makenna Shaffer, and Georgi Buzzetti from Women's Basketball, Anna Marzella and Victoria Zibecchi from Volleyball, and Matt Vaughn from Men's Basketball.

In addition to the individual awards, four Bucs teams earned NJCAA Academic Teams of the Year honors by posting a 3.0 or better team GPA, led by the Bucs National Championship Volleyball Team who led the way with a 3.61 overall mark.
