FSW Heads Into Postseason Ranked #1

FORT MYERS, Fla.- The Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers started the 2023 NJCAA regular season ranked #1 team in the country and they will close the regular season as the #1 ranked team in the country after holding their top spot for the 10th straight week on Monday as announced by the National Office.

The Bucs wrapped up the regular season with a 3-0 sweep of Indian River at home Wednesday night in Suncoast Credit Union Arena to head into the 2023 postseason with a sparkling 24-1 record.  The Bucs did so this season against the 8th toughest schedule in the country according to the Massey Ratings.  It was a schedule that included 14 Top 20 ranked teams and five ranked inside the Top 10.

With the regular season winding to a close and schedules limited last week, there wasn't much movement in the poll as the Top 5 remained the same with Northeastern, Miami Dade, Salt Lake, and Navarro checking in behind the Bucs and three more of FSW's Citrus Conference mates being recognized with Daytona State at #13, Eastern Florida at #15, and Polk State at #16.

The Bucs begin what they hope will be a long postseason run on Friday in Suncoast Arena when they host the semifinal round of the FCSAA State Tournament at 4:00 PM, taking on the winner of Friday morning's Polk State/Eastern Florida quarterfinal matchup with a trip to the Tournament Championship game Saturday on the line.
