Bucs Hold Top Spot in National Rankings For Ninth Straight Week

CHARLOTTE, N.C.- Despite dropping their first game of the year Saturday to Miami Dade, the Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers season long resume was strong enough to keep them at #1 in the NJCAA National Rankings for the ninth straight week released on Monday.

The Bucs are 23-1 on the year after splitting a pair of matches last week. They opened the week with a 3-0 sweep of Santa Fe to clinch their fourth straight Conference Championship on Wednesday. Saturday they dropped a 3-2 heartbreaker to #6 Miami Dade in a rematch of the 2022 NJCAA National Championship game.

The week nine poll featured the same 20 teams from the two weeks prior with some shuffling from conference matchup results.  The Bucs hold down the top spot with Northeastern remaining at #2 while Miami Dade slides up three spots to #3 with their win over FSW and Salt Lake and Navarro round out the top five. Daytona State remained at #13 for the second straight week while fellow FCSAA squads Eastern Florida and Polk State remained in the top 20 at #15 and #17 respectively meaning that five of the six teams at the upcoming FCSAA State Tournament at Suncoast Credit Union Arena will be ranked in the top 20.

The Bucs garnering the #1 spot means that FSW has now been ranked #1 in 21 of the past 23 NJCAA National Rankings and has been #1 or #2 in 24 straight.

FSW will wrap up the regular season on Sophomore Night in Suncoast Arena on Wednesday at 6:30 PM when they host Indian River in Citrus Conference action.
