Purashaj Named FCSAA Setter of the Week For Second Straight Week

TALLAHASSEE, Fla.- For the second straight week, Florida SouthWestern freshman Roberta Purashaj has been named the FCSAA Setter of the Week as announced by the state office on Tuesday. 

Purashaj led FSW to wins over #6 Miami Dade and Polk State last week, helping the Bucs clinch their third straight Suncoast Conference Championship.  Tuesday in a thrilling five set victory over Miami Dade, Purashaj dished out 48 assists and pulled up a career high 19 digs to help push the Bucs past the Sharks.  Thursday against Polk State her Bucs hit .303 as a team as she distributed 25 helpers in a 3-0 FSW sweep of the Eagles.  On the week she averaged 9.1 assists and 3.0 digs per set for the Bucs.

It is the third time this season Purashaj has been named the FCSAA Setter of the Week. 

She finished the regular season leading all FCSAA setters with 9.60 assists per set on the season while also pacing all setters in the state in digs with 2.40 a set.

Purashaj was joined on the week nine podium by teammate Barbara Koehler who earned her first career FCSAA Defensive Player of the Week nod. 

Purashaj and the Bucs will be back in action on Friday at the FCSAA State Tournament when they take on the winner of the Hillsborough/Eastern Florida match in the semifinals at 6 PM at Titan Field House in Melbourne.
