Lawrenz Blocks Way to Defensive Player of the Week Award
TALLAHASSEE, Fla.- Chalking up a big week at the net in a pair of key Suncoast Conference wins, Florida SouthWestern sophomore Julia Lawrenz has been named the FCSAA Defensive Player of the Week in a release from the state on Tuesday.  
 
Lawrenz continued to be a force at the net for the Bucs last week, piling up 11 blocks in a pair of FSW wins.  Thursday she led a 16 block attack for the Bucs against Eastern Florida, putting up 5 total blocks as FSW swept the Titans in their first home match in nearly a month.  Saturday she came up even bigger, getting in on 6 stuffs, including a pair of solo rejections as the Bucs secured a key 3-0 win over #4 Miami Dade in Suncoast Conference action.  
 
Lawrenz currently ranks second in program history with 167 total blocks in her two seasons with the Purple and Aqua. This season she is tied for the state lead and ranks in the Top 20 Nationally with 1.20 blocks per set on the year. 
 
Lawrenz and the Bucs have a big final week of the regular season ahead of them as they travel to #6 Miami Dade Tuesday night before returning home to take on the Polk State Eagles on Sophomore Night at FGCU's Alico Arena on Thursday at 6:00 PM.
