Five Straight Weeks at #1 For FSW Volleyball

CHARLOTTE, N.C.- The Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers held their #1 National Ranking for the fifth straight week this week, winning their 15th and 16th straight games to remain the Nation's top ranked squad in week eight.

The Bucs went 2-0 last week to improve to 19-2 overall and 14-0 in Suncoast Conference play where they clinched their second consecutive Conference Championship with two games still left to go.  FSW first dispatched of Eastern Florida 3-0 Tuesday night in Suncoast Arena before sweeping #17 Hillsborough on the road Thursday for their 19th win of the year.

Blinn, Salt Lake, and Butler, all moved up a spot behind the Bucs in the poll while Iowa Western fell three spots to #5 after a loss to New Mexico Military.  The FCSAA continued to have a strong showing in the poll with Miami Dade checking in at #6, Daytona moving up to #15, and Hillsborough coming in at #19.  All four teams will be at the upcoming FCSAA State Tournament in Suncoast Arena on November 5-6. 

The Bucs wrap up Suncoast Conference play this week with a pair of dates against a red hot Polk State team.  The Bucs and Eagles will play Tuesday at 6 PM in Suncoast Arena on FSW's Sophomore Night, with their eight sophomores being recognized in a pregame ceremony, followed by a matchup Saturday afternoon between the two in Winter Haven.
