Bucs Slide Up One in National Rankings

CHARLOTTE, N.C.- The Suncoast Conference Champion Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers moved up one spot to #6 in the week nine NJCAA National Rankings released Monday.

The Bucs are 16-4 heading into the 2021 postseason with five wins over Top 15 ranked opponents.  All four of the Bucs losses are to teams ranked in the week nine poll including #1 Miami Dade and #2 Odessa.

The top five teams in the rankings remained the same this week with the aforementioned Miami Dade Sharks and the Odessa Wranglers standing pat at #1 and #2, followed by Snow, Utah State Eastern, and Iowa Western to round out the top five just in front of FSW.  Blinn was this week's trendy team, jetting up from #12 to #7 after 3-0 wins over Panola and Navarro while Navarro's loss to the Buccaneers dropped them from #6 to #9.

The Bucs will begin their postseason run on Thursday as they take on Hillsborough in the first round of the 2021 FCSAA State Tournament in Jacksonville.  The top three teams from the weekend will advance to next weekend's District Tournament also hosted in the River City.
