Big Block Nets Amin FCSAA Defensive Player of the Week Honors
TALLAHASSEE, Fla.- Florida SouthWestern State sophomore Yasso Amin was a blocking machine in three Buccaneer wins last week, racking up 22 rejections to earn herself FCSAA Defensive Player of the Week honors for week nine. 
 
Amin racked up eight solo blocks and 14 block assists last week to help FSW clinch their first Suncoast Conference Championship in program history.  Tuesday in a key matchup against #7 Polk State, she picked up six total blocks, three solo, and three assisted in a 3-1 FSW win over the Eagles. Two days later against State College of Florida she was at it again, suffocating the Manatee attack with seven total blocks including two of the solo variety. Saturday in her final game in Suncoast Credit Union Arena on Sophomore Day against Palm Beach, she saved the best for last, notching a career high nine stuffs with three coming in solo fashion to stymie the Panther attack into hitting -.092 in the match.  
 
Amin leads the Bucs and ranks second in the state this season with 74 total blocks. Her 16 solo blocks, eight of which came this week, are third best in Florida.  
 
Amin and the Bucs are back in action tonight at Hillsborough to wrap up Suncoast Conference play in Tampa against the Hawks.
