Ivanova Named FCSAA Defensive Player of the Week

TALLAHASSEE, Fla.- For the first time this season and second time in her career, Florida SouthWestern State sophomore Viktoriya Ivanova has been named the FCSAA Defensive Player of the Week as announced by the state office on Tuesday. 

Ivanova was huge on the backline for the Bucs last weekend, pulling up 71 digs and passing at a clip of .977 in four FSW contests.  Her biggest match of the weekend came against #5 Odessa when she set a program record with 26 digs in the five set thriller.  She had two other big matches against ranked competition as well, going for 17 digs against #15 Hill and 16 against #10 Trinity Valley.  Ivanova also had an impact on both ends of the serving game, registering six aces on the week while committing just two reception errors in 88 chances in the four matches. 

Ivanova leads the Bucs with 116 digs at a 4.64 per set clip this season which also ranks second in the state and seventh Nationally.

Ivanova and the Bucs will take the court for the first time in program history with a National Ranking on Friday as they put their shiny #15 on the line when they travel to Lake Worth to take on Palm Beach.
