Jamie Fisher Chosen to Lead FSW Women's Basketball Program
FORT MYERS, Fla.- Florida SouthWestern Director of Athletics George Sanders has announced that Jamie Fisher has been selected as the third Head Women's Basketball Coach in Buccaneers program history.

"Jamie quickly rose to the top of our list throughout the interview process" Sanders said. "His attention to detail and his comprehensive plan to get our program back to the National Tournament was something that caught the committee's eye right away. We look forward to welcoming Jamie to the Bucs family and are excited to watch him lead our program into the future."

Fisher takes over for the Bucs after spending the last nine seasons as the Head Coach at Connors State in Oklahoma. Fisher led the Cowgirls to a 29-5 record and the NJCAA Region II Championship last season, taking Connors back to the NJCAA National Tournament for the first time since the 2009 season. Fisher brings a 149-111 career record to Fort Myers with a pair of Region II Coach of the Year awards in tow.

"I am truly honored to be the next Head Coach at Florida SouthWestern. It's a dream come true to be a member of the Bucs family. FSW has set the precedent of having a championship culture in all sports and I am just thrilled and excited to be a part of this successful culture" Fisher said.  He shared his thanks saying "I would like to thank George Sanders, the administration at FSW,  and finally the hiring committee for giving me the opportunity to lead the Women's Basketball program. Finally, I want to personally thank Connors for my time there and all of the support they have given me throughout the years, especially Dr. Ron Ramming and Athletic Director Bill Muse for giving me my first Head Coaching position. I truly appreciate it the opportunity and enjoyed my time at Connors."

Fisher takes over a history rich FSW Women's Basketball program that has won five Conference Championships in the past seven seasons and has made a pair of trips to the NJCAA National Tournament.

The Bucs return five players to the mix in 2024-2025 including forward Ivy Brown who averaged 12.2 points and 7.0 rebounds per game last season while shooting 55% from the field, and Sarah Owona who played in all 30 games for FSW, averaging 6.0 points and 3.8 rebounds per game in 25 minutes per game on the floor.

Fisher is the third Head Coach in FSW program history, following Dr. Kristy Ward who was the Bucs inaugural Head Coach and Dr. Jerald Ellis who led the FSW program the past four seasons.

The Fisher era will officially begin when the Bucs open their 2024-2025 season on November 1st in the Walters State Classic in Tennessee.
