Rose Signs As Part of Inaugural Class at USC Beaufort

FORT MYERS, Fla.- Florida SouthWestern sophomore Shaniya Rose has signed to be a part of the inaugural class at the University of South Carolina Beaufort next season where she will be coached by former Purdue Head Coach Sharon Versyp with the Sand Sharks.

Rose played in 29 games for the Bucs as a sophomore this season, drawing 16 starts while averaging 3.6 points and 2.7 rebounds per game, shooting 47% from the field.  Rose scored a career high 13 off the bench for the Bucs in a win over Hillsborough early in Southern Conference play while hauling in a career best 7 rebounds early in the season against St. Petersburg.

Rose will be a part of the first team in USC Beaufort history in 2023-2024 after the Sand Sharks moved from the NAIA level to the NCAA Division II level, while announcing the addition of Basketball last summer.  Rose will play for Sharon Versyp at USC Beaufort after a 15 year career at Purdue that saw her become the Boilermakers all-time winningest Head Coach with 301 victories.

Rose is one of four FSW sophomores to sign off of this year's team, joining Macarena Retamales (Florida Gulf Coast), Natalia Tondi (Virginia Commonwealth), and Aaliyah Williams (Barry).
