Bucs Draw 6 Seed For Region VIII Tournament

NICEVILLE, Fla.- The Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers will go into the NJCAA Region VIII Tournament as the #6 seed next week in Niceville, Florida, matching up with 3rd seeded and 9th ranked Gulf Coast State Wednesday at 3 PM in the quarterfinals.

The Bucs currently sit at 18-8 overall with a chance to pick up one more win tomorrow against Palm Beach State before the postseason begins.  Gulf Coast heads to Niceville with a 24-3 mark.  The two matched up way back in December in Daytona with the Commodores taking a turnover filled 72-65 decision.  It is the fourth time in five seasons that the Bucs and Commodores collide in the Region VIII Tournament.

Two of the other three matchups will feature interconference battles as the winner of the FSW/Gulf Coast game will take on the winner of the Northwest Florida State/Chipola quarterfinal matchup while the bottom half of the bracket features top seeded Eastern Florida taking on Santa Fe and Indian River and St. Petersburg in the 4/5 matchup.

The action will all start on March 8th at Raider Arena in Niceville with the Championship Game slated for Saturday, March 11th at 5:00 PM. The tournament winner will be Region VIII's automatic qualifier for the NJCAA National Tournament in Lubbock later this month.
