Bucs Bump Up Another Spot in NJCAA Poll

CHARLOTTE, N.C.- Winners of six straight, the Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers moved up another spot in the NJCAA National Rankings released on Tuesday, checking in at #18 with their 14-3 record in the week 9 poll.

The Bucs picked up a pair of key wins last week, improving to 14-3 overall and sweeping through the first round of Southern Conference play at 3-0 with a 59-55 win on the road at Indian River Wednesday and a 67-48 blowout of Miami Dade at home in Suncoast Arena Saturday.

The top seven teams in the week 9 poll remained the same with Northwest Florida, Three Rivers, Shelton State, Trinity Valley, and Georgia Highlands holding their spots in the top five and Southern Idaho and Tyler checking in behind them.  Western Nebraska was the only team to move up more than one spot this week as they climbed from #10 to #8 while New Mexico was this week's biggest loser, falling all the way from #8 to #15 after a loss to South Plains.  The FCSAA was represented by five teams in the poll including Northwest Florida at #1, Pensacola State at #9, Chipola at #16, FSW at #18, and Eastern Florida at #22.

The Bucs picked up a road game for Thursday and it's not just any game, as FSW will travel to Americus, Georgia to take on #13 South Georgia Tech in a 7 PM tip before heading back to the Sunshine State to play at St. Petersburg Saturday afternoon.
