CHARLOTTE, N.C.- The Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers are trending upwards in the latest NJCAA National Rankings, jumping four spots up to #19 in the week 8 poll released by the National Office Monday.
FSW won both of their games last week handily, doubling up Patrick & Henry 90-45 on the road on Friday before returning home for a dominating 83-65 win over Hillsborough Saturday to open Southern Conference play. The Bucs have won four straight and are 12-3 on the year.
For the first time in a while, there was some instability in the poll in week 8 as just three of the top 10 teams held their spot from a week ago. Northwest Florida and Three River continue to pace the pack at a combined 33-0 on the year while Shelton State, Trinity Valley, and Georgia Highlands comprised the back end of the top 5 this week. The Bucs were one of five FCSAA squads in the Top 25 this week, joined by the aforementioned top ranked Raiders, #9 Pensacola, #16 Chipola, and #25 Eastern Florida.
FSW is back in action Wednesday in a matchup of the top two teams in the Southern Conference from a year ago when they take on Indian River on the road in Fort Pierce.
