ST. PETERSBURGFla.- The #19 Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers bounced back from a tough loss to #1 Northwest Florida State on Friday with a convincing win over previously undefeated St. Petersburg, leading the Titans wire to wire in a 66-47 victory to even up their record at 1-1 on the year.

The Bucs came out strong on both the offensive and defensive side of the ball, opening up a 16-7 lead on the Titans by holding St. Pete to just two first quarter field goals while shooting 44% themselves.

The second was more of the same as FSW controlled the pace and made St. Pete work for every scoring chance, holding the Titans to just six points in the quarter to open up their lead to 31-13 at the end of two.

As they did Friday, the Bucs struggled a little bit out of the break at half as St. Pete outscored FSW 15-11 in the third to allow the Titans a breathe of hope with 10:00 remaining.

The Bucs threw away any thought of a comeback for the Titans right out the window early in the final period, pushing their lead back to 20 before coasting to a 66-47 win.

Tyshonne Tollie led the Buc with 19 points and 7 rebounds in the win while Sariana Rodriguez and Natalia Tondi each chipped in 10. The Bucs shot 36% from the field in the victory while holding the Titans to just 25% from the field and without a three pointer made in the contest.

The Bucs even up their 2021-2022 record at 1-1 while handing St. Pete their first loss of the season to drop them to 2-1.

The Bucs make their 2021-2022 home debut on Friday and Saturday at Suncoast Credit Union Arena in Fort Myers when they welcome Santa Fe and Tallahassee in for a weekend classic.
