Rios Headed to LMU

FORT MYERS, Fla.- After helping lead the Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers to a pair of Conference Championships the past two seasons, sophomore guard Geovana Rios has signed to continue her playing career at Lincoln Memorial University in Harrogate, Tennessee.

Rios played in 47 games over the past two seasons for the Bucs, drawing seven starts and averaging just under 15 minutes per game.  She finished her FSW career averaging 2.1 points and 2.5 assists per contest while also hauling in 3.4 rebound per night.  She scored a career high 8 points on 4 of 9 shooting in a win over New Horizons midway through her sophomore season and dished out a career best 11 assists, which is 3rd best in a single game in program history, in a victory over Caldwell Tech later in the year.

She will join a Lincoln Memorial squad coming off of a magical postseason run in 2021.  After entering as the eight seed, the Lady Railsplitters won three games in the South Atlantic Conference Tournament, including a shocking upset of top seeded Carson-Newman in the quarterfinals.

FSW was 37-13 in Rios' two years in Fort Myers, winning a Suncoast Conference Championship in 2020 and a Southern Conference title in 2021.

She is the fifth FSW sophomore to sign at the next level, joining Patience Williams (South Florida), Sheslanie Laureano (George Washington), A'Moni Waiters (Detroit Mercy), and Kyriaki Taylor (Piedmont).
