DAYTONA BEACH, Fla.- The Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers never managed to get anything going Saturday afternoon on the road at Daytona State, shooting just 31% from the field and 11% from three in a 68-58 loss at the hands of the Falcons.

Things were close early on as Daytona held an 11-9 lead on the Bucs midway through the first quarter of action. However, an 11-4 run for the Falcons from there to close out the period opened up a 22-13 lead for Daytona at the end of one quarter of play.

The Bucs deficit grew as the second quarter began as Daytona scored the first six points of the period to blow their lead open to 28-13.  FSW chipped away from there as a three from Tyshonne Tollie got them back to within eight, but another run for the Falcons pushed the lead back to a dozen at 36-24. A late bucket for FSW cut into the lead, but it was still 37-26 Daytona as the teams went to the half.

A triple for Tashun Bryson early in the third quarter got the Bucs back to within single digits, but a four minute scoreless drought watched the Falcons extend their lead back to 15 at 52-37 with 3:21 to go in the third.  Five straight points from Sheslanie Laureano late in the quarter got the Bucs back to within striking distance, but it was still 54-42 Daytona with 10:00 to go.

The Bucs made their best run of the game midway through the fourth, showing some fight to get it back to a six point game at 58-52.  The Bucs had not one, but two shots to cut that lead in half, getting a stop on defense and an open look from three, but it was off the mark and Daytona scored the next six to go back up a dozen, 64-52.  A jumped from Patience Williams with 2:30 to go made it a six point game once again, but that is as close as FSW would get on this night as the Bucs went scoreless for the remainder of the game and the Falcons went on to win 68-58.

The Bucs shot just 31% from the field in the game and were just 3-27 from the three point line.  Williams led FSW with 12 points, Laureano and Bryson added 11 and 10 respectively.

FSW falls to 8-4 on the year with the loss while Daytona improves to 5-6.

The Bucs will look to get back on track during Spring Break as they travel to North Carolina to take on Caldwell Tech and Warren Wilson in the Tarheel state Tuesday and Wednesday.
