DAYTONA BEACH, Fla.- The Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers exloded for a season high 106 points Friday afternoon in Daytona, hammering DME Academy 106-60 to improve to 8-3 on the year.
The Bucs were on fire early on, lighting up the scoreboard for 35 first quarter points to take a 35-17 lead after 10 minutes of action.
They slowed down in the second, but still took a comfortable 50-30 lead into the break at half.
FSW picked things up once again out of the break, blowing the game wide open with a 31 point third quarter before topping the century mark and finishing off DME late 106-60.
The Bucs shot 64% as a team in the win and connected on 47% from downtown, both season highs. Five Bucs scored in double figures, led by Macarena Retamales, who went a perfect 6-6 from the field and finished with 15 points and Sariana Rodriguez who added 14. Kesha White gave the Bucs a spark off the bench, scoring a career high 12 points and grabbing 5 rebounds in just 13 minutes of work.
FSW improves to 8-3 with the victory.
The Bucs will remain in Daytona and pay a visit to Daytona State Saturday afternoon at 4 PM to wrap up their trip to the Surf Coast.
