McCray Earns Second Player of the Week Nod of 2024

TALLAHASSEE, Fla.- For the second time this season, Florida SouthWestern sophomore Sydney McCray has been named the FCSAA Player of the Week after hitting .667 across four Buccaneer games last week.

McCray was a key cog in the Bucs lineup last week, hitting .667 and scoring eight times in four FSW wins. Tuesday against Hillsborough she scored three times in FSW's game one win over the Hawks before reaching base and scoring in both plate appearances in a 10-2 game two win.  Saturday it was more of the same as she was 2-2 with three stolen bases in the Bucs game one victory over Eastern Florida before going 2-3 with a double, a triple, and two RBIs in a 6-5 game two victory over the Titans.

McCray is hitting .370 with 43 stolen bases and 66 runs scored this season for FSW, putting her in the top 10 in program history in hits, stolen bases, and runs scored.

McCray was joined in week 13 honors by teammate Esmee Ames who was named the state's Pitcher of the Week.

McCray and the Bucs are back in action on Tuesday when they travel to Fort Pierce to take on Indian River with the Citrus Conference Championship potentially in the balance.
