SANFORD, Fla.- The #3 Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers swept the #10 Seminole State Raiders in very different fashions Thursday afternoon in Sanford, using seven runs in the first three innings of game one for a 7-2 victory before scoring all of their runs in a three run 7th in game two for a 3-2 win to improve to 17-1 on the year.

It didn't take long for the Bucs to jump on the Raiders in game one as Sydney McCray walked to lead off the game and swiped both second and third before coming home on a two run double from Emily Allegood to put FSW on top early 2-0.

Seminole loaded the bases in the bottom of the 1st as they looked to even things up right away, but Bucs starter Lea Chevrier dialed up a big strikeout to get out of the jam and keep the Bucs in front 2-0.

The Bucs were back on the attack in the 3rd as Skylar Brennan singled through the right side to drive home a run and Maddy Golka sent one back up the box to bring home another and make it a 4-0 game. The Bucs kept at it as with two outs Kmari Williams and McCray notched back to back RBI singles to pad the FSW lead to 7-0 at inning's end.

Seminole finally broke through against Chevrier in the 6th, loading the bases with one out and picking up a pair on a single to center, but Chevrier shut it down from there, getting a pair of pop ups to shut down the threat and keep the Bucs in front 7-2 after six.

The Bucs had a chance to get some insurance in the top of the 7th as they put two on with nobody out, but a line drive double play quickly ended those chances and it remained a 7-2 game to the bottom of the 7th.

Chevrier did the rest, working around a leadoff hit by pitch to finish off the Raiders and lock up a 7-2 win for the Buccaneers.

The Bucs finished with 10 hits from eight different players in the win with Brennan and Nicole Edmiaston leading the way with two hits apiece.  Chevrier went the distance in the circle, improving to 8-0 on the year while allowing six hits and two runs while striking out five.

Game two followed a quite different script as it was Seminole jumping on top early on, pushing across a pair of runs in the 2nd to take their first lead of the day at 2-0.

The Bucs didn't have their first real scoring chance until the 5th when Mambelli and McCray were hit by pitches to put the tying runs on base, but a pop up on the infield quietly ended the threat and kept the Raiders in front 2-0.

FSW starter Emily Allegood kept the Bucs in the game in the circle, holding Seminole to just the two 2nd inning runs through five to keep it just a 2-0 game.

Allegood tried to help herself out at the plate, singling with one out in the 6th, but back to back pop ups left her stranded at first at inning's end and kept the Raiders in front 2-0.

Seminole was looking for insurance in the bottom of the 6th as they put two runners on with one out, but the Bucs called on Esmee Ames out of the bullpen who retired both hitters she faced to keep the Raiders off the board as it remained a 2-0 contest.

Down to their last out in the 7th and staring down their first shutout loss in 663 days, the Bucs finally came to life as McCray shot an RBI triple the other way to get FSW on the board and cut the Raider lead in half to 2-1. Williams drew a five pitch walk and immediately stole second to put the go ahead run in scoring position and Sietske Drijvers cashed them in with a bullet to center for a two run double to give the Bucs the lead 3-2.

Seminole kept fighting though, getting back to back one out singles in the bottom of the 7th to put the tying and winning runs on base with two cracks to score them. Ames wasn't having that though, punching out a Raider hitter for the second out of the inning before getting a pop up on the infield to end it as the Bucs held on for a 3-2 win to finish the sweep.

Seven of the nine Bucs starters had a hit in the win while Drijvers had the big blow with the two run double in the 7th for the winner.  Ames earned the win out of the bullpen, going 1 2/3 shutout frames to close things out, striking out three in the process to improve to 6-1 on the year.

The Bucs improve to 17-1 overall on the season with the sweep and move to 4-0 in Citrus Conference play after two conference dates. Seminole falls to 10-6 overall and 0-4 in league play.

A busy first week on conference action continues on Saturday when the Bucs return home to Fort Myers to host Daytona State in doubleheader action beginning at 1 PM at Buccaneers Park.
