Unhittable Sardja Named FCSAA Pitcher of the Week

TALLAHASSEE, Fla.- Allowing just one hit in 10 innings pitched last week, including firing the program's first no hitter in over six seasons, Florida SouthWestern right-hander Belle Sardja has been named the FCSAA Pitcher of the Week.

Sardja put together a historic performance in her first start of the week Tuesday against St. Petersburg, throwing five no-hit innings in an 8-0 win over the Titans.  She allowed just two baserunners, one via walk and one via a defensive miscue, to chalk up the first no-hitter by an FSW pitcher since the 2016 season.  Saturday she faced the Titans again and had similar results.  This time St. Pete was able to manage a hit, but that was it as Sardja shut them out, again by an 8-0 count to give the Bucs a commanding lead atop the Suncoast Conference standings.

On the season Sardja is 9-2 with a 1.51 ERA in 55 2/3 innings pitched in the circle.  She has three complete game shutouts and  has allowed opposing hitters to hit just .199 on the year.

Sardja and the Bucs will be back in action against St. Petersburg on Thursday when they travel to Clearwater for a doubleheader beginning at 5 PM.
