Bucs Slugger Signs With Presbyterian

FORT MYERS, Fla.- Florida SouthWestern sophomore Owen Bowers will be headed to the Division I level next season after signing her National Letter of Intent with Presbyterian College last week.

Bowers is a two-time, 1st Team All-State selection for the Bucs, winning the award in both the 2019 and 2021 seasons.  Her name is plastered all over the FSW record books as she heads into the 2021 NJCAA National Tournament next week with a .402 career average, 28 doubles, 19 home runs, and 116 RBIs.  She needs three more doubles and two more RBIs to become the Bucs all-time leader in those two categories. She had one of the best single seasons in FSW history as a freshman in 2019, setting new program records in doubles (18), home runs (17), and RBIs (79) to earn 1st Team NJCAA All-American  honors.

Also a star in the classroom, Bowers was named the first FSW CoSIDA Academic All-American in school history in 2020, making her way onto the list of just 10 female student-athletes across all sports at the two-year level of collegiate athletics nationwide.

Bowers will head to South Carolina to play for a Presbyterian squad that was 15-19 this season while recording their most wins in Big South play in four years.

Bowers and the Bucs will return to action next Tuesday at the NJCAA National Tournament in Yuma, Arizona.  Ranked 3rd in the latest NJCAA National Rankings, the Bucs will learn who their first round opponent will be on Thursday.

Bowers is the third NCAA Division I signee for the Bucs this season, joining Rebeca Laudino (Louisiana-Lafayette), and Alyssa O'Donnell (Long Island).
