All-State Team Stocked Full of Bucs

TALLAHASSEE, Fla.- After dominating their opponents throughout the season, the Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers dominated the spots on the FCSAA All-State Team announced this week as seven Bucs were named All-State including six on the All-State 1st Team. 

Leading the way for the Bucs was the FCSAA State Pitcher of the Year Alyssa O'Donnell.  O'Donnell led the state in both wins with 20 and ERA at 1.54 this season.  She will head to the National Tournament with a 20-1 record and that sparkling ERA while racking up a team high 102 strikeouts in 118 1/3 innings pitched on the year.

For the second straight year, Rebeca Laudino was named a 1st Team All-State infielder.  In the midst of another incredible season for the Bucs, hitting .497 which is third best in the state while scoring 60 runs and stealing 33 bases which ranks 6th and 7th respectively in the state of Florida.

Speedy centerfielder Janessa Plummer was tabbed a 1st Team All-State selection after leading the state in hitting with a .535 average this season.  She heads to Yuma with 54 hits in 43 games for the Bucs while reaching base at a .580 clip which ranks 11th nationally. 

Feline Poot followed up her Suncoast Conference Player of the Year award with a 1st Team All-State selection at third base.  Poot heads to the National Tournament with a .409 average and a team best 17 home runs and 55 RBIs on the year.  Those two marks are currently good for 3rd and 4th in the state prior to the Bucs trip to Yuma. 

Bucs backstop Taylor Jensen was also named a 1st Team All-State choice by the coaches.  Jensen it hitting .427 on the year with 10 doubles, nine homers, and 48 RBIs while playing Gold Glove caliber defense behind the plate for the Bucs. 

The Bucs second, two-time 1st Team All-State pick is Owen Bowers. Bowers is hitting .392 with five doubles on the season while driving in 22 runs in 42 contests. 

For the second time in her career, Lindsey Corbin was named a 2nd Team All-State selection.  Corbin put up big numbers again for the Bucs this season, hitting .398 with seven homers and 42 RBIs while starting 36 games at shortstop for the Purple and Aqua. 

The Bucs seven selections overall and six 1st Team selections were both the most in the state. 

FSW will head across the country next week to take part in the 2021 NJCAA National Tournament in Yuma, Arizona.  The Bucs will take a 44-4 record into the tournament and are expected to be one of the top seeds when the bracket is released next Thursday. 

2021 FCSAA ALL-STATE TEAM
