Bucs Ace Inks With LIU

FORT MYERS, Fla.- Florida SouthWestern State star Alyssa O'Donnell has signed her National Letter of Intent to play at Long Island University next season.

The Bucs ace this season, O'Donnell is 18-1 on the year with eight complete games in 20 starts.  She has posted a 1.63 ERA while striking out 95 opposing hitters in 99 innings worked on the year.  She has been named the FCSAA Pitcher of the Week three times this season including in back to back weeks earlier this season.

She will go from one of the top teams in the NJCAA at FSW to one of the top teams at the NCAA level as she joins an LIU program that is currently 25-3 on the year and has a five game lead atop the Northeast Conference standings with just two games left to go. O'Donnell should have a chance to contribute for the Sharks right away as LIU's top three pitchers this season are all graduating at season's end.

O'Donnell and the Bucs are currently 38-3 on the year and went a perfect 19-0 in Suncoast Conference play to win their fifth straight Conference Championship this season.  FSW is in the midst of a season long 21 game winning streak and was ranked #1 in the NJCAA National Poll for the fourth straight week this week.  After wrapping up their regular season schedule today on the road at #10 Indian River, the Bucs will head to the FCSAA State Tournament next weekend where they will match up with Miami Dade in the first game of the tournament Friday morning at 10 AM in Longwood.
