Bucs Hit Machine Laudino Named FCSAA Player of the Week

TALLAHASSEE, Fla.- Leading her team to a fifth straight Suncoast Conference Championship and hitting in all four contests on the week, Florida SouthWestern State infielder Rebeca Laudino has been named the FCSAA Player of the Week for the second time this season as announced by the state on Tuesday.

Laudino was on fire for the Bucs last week, hitting .833 while accounting for 14 runs, scoring eight and driving in six, in four FSW wins. Thursday against Hillsborough she was a perfect 5-5 and reached base in all seven plate appearances for the Bucs.  She scored three and drove in three runs against the Hawks in the doubleheader while also stealing five bases.  One day later against St. Petersburg she was 5-7 in a doubleheader, ripping two triples, driving in three, and scoring five times in two more FSW victories.

Laudino has again been automatic for the Bucs atop their lineup this season.  She is hitting .500 and has scored 48 runs in 40 games while going 30-32 in stolen base attempts.  After a slow start to the season, she has hit in 29 of 30 games for the Bucs, hitting .557 during the stretch.

Laudino and the Bucs wrapped up their fifth straight Conference Championship on Thursday and are currently ranked #1 in the country with a 38-3 overall record.  The Bucs will finish their regular season schedule on Thursday on the road at #10 Indian River before heading to the FCSAA State Tournament in Sanford where they will square off against Miami Dade next Wednesday at 10:00 in the first round.
