O'Donnell Named FCSAA Pitcher of the Week

TALLAHASSEE, Fla.- Following a 3-0 week without allowing a single earned run, Florida SouthWestern sophomore pitcher Alyssa O'Donnell has been named the FCSAA Pitcher of the Week. 

O'Donnell began the week with four shutout innings against Keiser University, allowing just one  hit while striking out seven Seahawk hitters.  In her second outing of the week she again went four scoreless, striking out nine of the 14 hitters she faced, while allowing just two hits in a Bucs win over St. Johns River.  In her final trip to the circle, she threw a complete game, allowing just three hits as the Bucs upended #19 Pensacola State 5-2.  Overall on the week, she spun 15 innings without giving up an earned run while allowing just six hits and striking out 21. 

It is the second time in her career that O'Donnell has been named the FCSAA Pitcher of the Week after earning the award once as a freshman last season. 

O'Donnell has been lights out for the Bucs this season, going 5-0 with a 0.78 ERA in 27 innings pitched while allowing just 10 hits and holding opposing hitters to a .132 batting average with 37 strikeouts. 

FSW fans will get the 2nd ranked Bucs in action at home for the first time on Wednesday when they host Miami Dade in a doubleheader beginning at 4 PM at City of Palms Park in Downtown Fort Myers.
