Collins Named FCSAA Pitcher of the Week For Fourth Time

TALLAHASSEE, FLA.- For the fourth time this season, Florida SouthWestern State sophomore Kelsi Collins has been named the FCSAA/Region VIII Pitcher of the Week as announced by the league Tuesday night.

Collins put together another solid week in the circle, tossing 16 innings and allowing just two runs while going 3-0.  She struck out 20 and walked just five in wins over Iowa Western, Polk State, and State College of Florida.  Monday against the Rievers, she went three innings, recording all nine outs via strikeout in a blowout win for the Bucs.  Wednesday she locked it in for a Suncoast Conference matchup against Polk, going six innings, allowing just two hits in a victory over the Eagles. She wrapped up the week with a four hit shutout of rival State College of Florida.

Collins ranks in the top three in the state in each of the Triple Crown categories, leading the state and the country in wins with 19, ranking second in Florida with a 1.12 ERA, and third in strikeouts with 153 on the year.

Collins and the Bucs are back in action on Thursday at City of Palms Park in Fort Myers when they host the Polk State Eagles in a makeup game of last week's rainout.
