Laudino Named Fastpitch News National Player of the Week

CULVER CITY, CA.- Leading the Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers to a 10-0 week last week, freshman infielder Rebeca Laudino was rewarded by Fastpitch News on Tuesday as she was named the National Player of the Week.

Laudino was nearly unstoppable at the top of the Bucs lineup last week, reaching base 26 times in 10 FSW games, batting .629 with 12 stolen bases.  She had eight multi-hit games and scored two or more runs in six times for the Bucs.  She was named to the NFCA Leadoff Classic All-Tournament team, going 14 for 22 (.636) with two or more hits in every game while leading the Bucs to a tournament championship.

Laudino is the leading hitter in the FCSAA at the midway point of the season with a .566 average while reaching base at a .609 clip for the Bucs.  Her 56 hits are most in the nation by a wide margin while her 28 stolen bases rank fifth nationally.

Laudino and the Bucs are back in action Tuesday night at home at City of Palms Park where they will open Suncoast Conference play against St. Petersburg beginning at 5 PM.
