Bucs Continue Climb Up NJCAA National Rankings

CHARLOTTE, N.C.- On the heels of winning their seventh straight game, the Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers continued their climb up the NJCAA National Rankings on Monday, checking in up two spots to #20 in the week eight poll.

The Bucs moved to 14-4 overall on the year this week, capturing road wins over Polk State and St. Petersburg in dominating defensive efforts. FSW allowed just 57.5 points per game in the two wins, holding both the Eagles and Titans to poor shooting nights in the victories.  Wednesday the Bucs handled Polk easily on the road in Winter Haven in a 73-57 victory before grinding out a 65-58 win over St. Pete Saturday down three starters due to injury.

There was some shuffling at the top of the week eight poll as both Daytona and Vincennes lost contests to fall out the top three spots. Undefeated South Plains continues to be the class so far while Mineral Area jumps to #2, Barton enters the top five for the first time at #3, Chipola slides up three spots to #4, and Daytona slides down three to #5 after their loss to Eastern Florida. The Bucs are one of five teams from Florida in the poll this week joining Chipola, Daytona State, and Northwest Florida who come in at #4, #5, and #6 respectively while Eastern Florida jumps the Bucs to #18 this week after their win over Daytona Saturday.

FSW will look to continue their winning ways on Tuesday when they make the long trip to take on Santa Fe in a 7 PM tip in Gainesville.
