Bucs Guard Headed to Southern
FORT MYERS, Fla.- The Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers continued their trend of moving their sophomores onto the Division I level on Wednesday as two-time All-Conference guard Jordan Mitchell signed with Southern University.

Mitchell played in 54 games over the past two seasons for the Bucs, drawing 23 starts. He finished his FSW career averaging 7.0 points and 4.5 assists per game while shooting an almost identical 42% in each of his two seasons with the Bucs.  He was a two-time Honorable Mention All-Southern Conference selection for FSW, setting a new program single game record with 15 assists in his collegiate debut and later broke that with a 17 assist performance to close the 2022 regular season.

Mitchell closes his FSW career with 241 career assists which ranks 3rd in program history while his 72 steals rank in the Top 10 of the FSW annals.

Southern is coming off of a 15-17 campaign in which they were 11-7 in SWAC action. The Jaguars advanced to the postseason where they were tripped up by Alabama A&M in Birmingham.

Mitchell is the seventh FSW sophomore to sign at the Division I level this season, joining teammates Jadrian Tracey (Oregon), Tyson Brown (Rhode Island), Bradley Douglas (Arkansas-Little Rock), Jemal Davis (Central Michigan), Wesley Oba (Delaware State), and Allen Udemadu (Morgan State), and is the 13th Buc to move onto the Division I level in the past two seasons.
