Bucs Big Man Inks With Rhode Island

FORT MYERS, Fla.- Florida SouthWestern big man Tyson Brown has found his home for the next two seasons as the 6'9 forward signed with the University of Rhode Island on National Signing Day Wednesday.

Brown was a double-double machine for FSW this season, putting up 13 on the year including eight straight at one point.  He was a 1st Team All-Southern Conference selection, averaging 11.6 points and 9.4 rebounds per game while shooting 58% from the field and also swatting away 1.5 shots per game on the defensive side of the floor.  Brown topped the 20 point mark three times this season, including a season high 23 point effort against #3 Salt Lake and went for 15 or more rebounds on two occasions, posting a season best 16 against Miami Dade early in Southern Conference play.

Brown will look to make an immediate impact at Rhode Island who struggled to a 9-22 mark and a 5-13 record in A-10 action this season. The Rams are looking to return to their glory days under Head Coach Archie Miller who will be headed into his second year at Rhode Island after being named the A-10 Coach of the Year at Dayton and spending four seasons at Indiana.

Brown was one of two Bucs to sign on National Signing Day Wednesday, joining teammate Jadrian Tracey who is headed to Oregon.  The pair makes it eight Division I signees for the Bucs in the past two seasons, a number that is expected to grow in the coming weeks.
