Saddle Up Cowboy! Blackwell Signs With McNeese

FORT MYERS, Fla.- After two seasons playing for the Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers in the Sunshine State, Bucs sophomore guard Rhyjon Blackwell will be headed to the Bayou State where he will suit up for the McNeese State Cowboys after signing with the Southland Conference school last week.

Blackwell was a 2nd Team All-Southern Conference selection for the Bucs this season after averaging 8.5 points per game while shooting 42% from the field and 41% from the three point line.  He scored in double figures 10 times this season for the Bucs including a career high 28 point performance in FSW's regular season finale against Pasco-Hernando.  He finished 9-12 shooting in the contest while tying a program record going 8-11 from the three point line in the win.  Blackwell helped lead FSW to a 42-11 record and a pair of trips to the FCSAA State Semifinals in his two seasons in Fort Myers.

He will join a McNeese squad looking for a bounce back season in 2022-2023 as the Cowboys were 11-22 overall and 4-10 in Southland Conference play this year.

Blackwell is one of five Bucs to sign at the Division I level this season joining Jonathan Dos Anjos (UTEP), Justin Archer (Radford), Bryant Selebangue (Tulsa), and Kaiyem Cleary (Ball State).
