FSW Heads to State Tourney as #4 Seed, Will Take On Santa Fe in Opening Round

NICEVILLE, Fla.- The #14 Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers will open the 2022 postseason as the #4 seed at the upcoming FCSAA State/NJCAA Region VIII Tournament in Niceville, Florida, drawing the Santa Fe Saints in their first round matchup next Wednesday in Raider Arena. 

FSW closed the regular season at 23-5 and as the runners-up in the Southern Conference while Santa Fe was 24-5 and the Champions of the Central Conference this season.  The Bucs and Saints matchup up in a  memorable battle way back in November with Santa Fe squeaking out an 83-81 win in the closing minutes on their home floor. 

Indian River earned the top seed for the tournament with Chipola and Northwest Florida following behind after of the 4th seeded Bucs and 5th seeded Saints.  Eastern Florida drew the #6 seed with Polk State and Tallahassee rounding out the draw. 

The Bucs and Saints will go head to head at 9:00 (EST) Wednesday with the winner advancing to Friday's semifinal round slated for a 4:00 (EST) start.
