38 Bucs Bring Home Academic Awards For 2018-19

FORT MYERS, Fla.- Along with a historic year on the diamonds and the courts at Florida SouthWestern State this season, 38 Buccaneer student-athletes doubled down with excellent years in the classroom, earning Suncoast Conference, FCSAA, and NJCAA Academic Awards for the 2018-19 school year. 

Led by Suncoast Conference Female Student-Athlete of the Year Paris Woods, the FSW Softball team paced the Athletic Department with 16 Suncoast Conference All-Academic team selections this year.  Bucs Baseball netted 11 to the team while Women's Basketball had six and Men's Basketball four selections for a total of 38 FSW student-athletes named to the conference's All-Academic squad. 

FSW had 25 student-athletes named to the FCSAA All-Academic Team.  Again Softball led the way with 12 selections while Women's Basketball had all six players from the Suncoast All-Academic Team repeat as FCSAA picks as well.  Baseball put four on the team and Men's Basketball had three. 

10 of the most prestigious of the Buccaneer student-athletes were selected to the NJCAA All-Academic Teams.  Posting perfect 4.00 GPAs, Bucs Softball players Paris Woods, Owen Bowers, and Alyssa LoSauro were all named to the All-Academic First Team.  Wrapping up their FSW careers with 3.88 and 3.87 GPAs respectively, Taylor Williams of the Women's Basketball team and Madison Johnson of the Bucs Softball squad were Second Team selections.  FSW had five Third Team picks with Softball players Kelsi Collins, Lexi Moore, and Elsie Rivera, as well as Women's Basketball's Anna Maria Hofmann and Baseball's Josh McAllister posting GPAs North of 3.60 on the year.
