FSW Top 10 of 2018-19- #1, FSW’s 57 Game Winning StreakJuly 19, 2019We have finally reached the top moment of the 2018-19 FSW Athletics year and what a year it was! We have counted down championships, and records, and firsts and today as we get to #1, we look back at arguably the most impressive streak for any school, at any level, in collegiate sports history. Our #1 moment is the Bucs’ combined 57 game winning streak across their four sports.

FSW Top 10 of 2018-19- #3, Bucs Take Over NJCAA RankingsJuly 17, 2019Having already touched on a number of firsts during our countdown of the top 10 moments in the 2018-19 FSW Athletic season, as we work our way to #3, we have another. Our #3 moment is the Bucs taking over the NJCAA National rankings with both Men’s Basketball and Softball finishing the regular season ranked #1, Women’s Basketball climbing into the top 10 for the first time in program history, and Baseball receiving their first national ranking in program history this year.

FSW Top 10 of 2018-19- #4, Women’s Basketball Secures First National Tournament WinJuly 16, 2019After coming in at #6 on our countdown by finding out they were headed to the NJCAA National Tournament, the FSW Women’s Basketball checks in at #4 today for what they did at the Big Dance.

FSW Top 10 of 2018-19- #6, Both Bucs Basketball Squads Go DancingJuly 12, 2019The FSW Men’s & Women’s Basketball teams rolled through their respective regular seasons, leaving a trail of destruction for their 2018-19 opponents. Both teams went undefeated in conference play to capture league titles and both worked their ways to the top national rankings in program history. Unfortunately, the two both fell short to quality foes in the FCSAA State Tournament, which set up our #6 moments of the FSW Athletics year.

FSW Top 10 of 2018-19- #7, FSW Goes 4 For 4 in Suncoast Titles/All-AmericansJuly 11, 20192018-19 was a magical year for Florida SouthWestern Athletics in a number of ways, but the most impressive of feats was the well-roundedness of the Bucs success. Our #7 accomplishment of the year highlights just that, as all four FSW teams captured Suncoast Conference Championships and each also sported an All-American, both firsts in the Bucs young history.

Bucs a Cut Above the Rest in 2018-19July 01, 2019The 2018-19 athletic season was a historic one for the Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers. The Bucs four squads each captured Suncoast Conference Championships and advanced to the FCSAA State Tournament, the only school in Florida to boast that, while FSW teams combined for a .865 overall winning percentage, easily the top mark in the Sunshine State and likely the highest nationwide.

38 Bucs Bring Home Academic Awards For 2018-19June 27, 2019Along with a historic year on the diamonds and the courts at Florida SouthWestern State this season, 38 Buccaneer student-athletes doubled down with excellent years in the classroom, earning Suncoast Conference, FCSAA, and NJCAA Academic Awards for the 2018-19 school year.

White Signs With Young HarrisJune 14, 2019All five Florida SouthWestern State Women’s Basketball sophomores have found their homes as Wednesday, Buccaneer forward Niaya White signed her National Letter of Intent with Young Harris College in Georgia making the Bucs five for five in placing their 2019 sophomores at the next level.

Collins, Stephens, Woods Earn FCSAA Year End AwardsMay 29, 2019A trio of FSW Buccaneers were honored by the FCSAA last week at the annual CAA meetings as Kelsi Collins was named the FCSAA Female Athlete of the Year, Tina Stephens was named the Suncoast Conference Female Athlete of the Year, and Paris Woods was named the Suncoast Conference Student-Athlete of the Year.

Stephens Nets Bucs First 1st Team All-American AwardApril 09, 2019For the first time in program history, the Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers have a First Team NJCAA All-American. After becoming the first NJCAA All-American in program history last season, FSW sophomore Tina Stephens upped it one more this season, garnering First Team honors as announced by the organization on Monday.

Bucs Comeback Comes Up Just Short at National TournamentMarch 19, 2019In nearly a mirror opposite of their first game at the NJCAA National Tournament, the #17 Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers’ furious late game comeback fell just short Tuesday afternoon against #1 Wabash Valley, as a last second shot missed its mark and the Bucs lost 81-78 to see their season commence with a 9th place finish in their first trip to the Big Dance.

Bucs Ride Roller Coaster to First National Tournament WinMarch 18, 2019The #17 Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers went on a wild ride in their first NJCAA National Tournament game in program history on Monday, starting hot and going up by as many as 19 before seeing that lead evaporate and the game eventually go to overtime where they came out on top of a 78-75 decision over #16 Cochise to advance to the second round of the tournament on Tuesday.

FSW Women Draw At Large Bid to First NJCAA National TournamentMarch 11, 2019The Florida SouthWestern State Women’s Basketball team gathers with fans and other student-athletes in Suncoast Credit Union Arena Monday morning, crossing their fingers that their name would be called as one of eight teams nationally to earn at at-large bid to the NJCAA National Tournament. Thankfully for sanity purposes, the Buccaneers didn’t have to wait long as they were the second team announced during the NJCAA selection show, punching their first ticket to the Big Dance in program history.

Five Bucs Named All-Conference, Stephens Player of the Year, Ward Coach of the YearFebruary 27, 2019As expected, the #9 Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers came away from the Suncoast Conference awards on Tuesday with a haul as Tina Stephens was named Player of the Year, Dr. Kristie Ward was named Coach of the Year, and four other Bucs were named to the All-Conference teams.

Bucs Complete Perfect Conference SeasonFebruary 23, 2019For the first time in program history, the Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers finished their Suncoast Conference schedule unbeaten on Saturday afternoon at Suncoast Credit Union Arena. FSW wrapped up their 9-0 conference campaign with an 85-63 win over visiting Eastern Florida State, their 24th consecutive win to end the regular season 28-2.

Bucs Up Two Spots to #11 in National PollFebruary 21, 2019After being stuck at #13 in the NJCAA National Poll for six straight weeks , the Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers finally caught a break on Wednesday, moving up two spots to #11, the highest ranking in program history, as they sit in the midst of a 22 game winning streak heading into their game Wednesday night.

Five in Double Figures as #11 FSW Blows Past IMGFebruary 20, 2019For the first time in six weeks the Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers had a new number next to their name as they took the court as the #11 ranked team in the NJCAA on Wednesday. That seemed to have little effect on their play on the floor as five players scored in double figures and FSW topped the 100 point mark for the 12th time this year in a 110-63 blowout of IMG to improve to 27-2 on the year.

FSW State Tournament Fan BusFebruary 15, 2019Both Bucs basketball teams are headed to the FCSAA tournament and you are invited to be there to cheer them on! FSW Athletics is once again chartering buses to Ocala for fans to join the teams and cheer them on at the tournament. Buses will leave each day from the Suncoast Credit Union Arena parking lot at designated times and will return after the games to the arena. The cost for each trip is $35 per person, payable by cash or check the day of the trip. There is also an admission fee of $10 per game or $25 for a tournament pass to be paid at the conference venue. Florida SouthWestern Athletics On Unprecedented RollFebruary 14, 2019Florida SouthWestern State Athletics is still in its infancy stages, but its successes are not. In just their fourth year of a respawn of their athletic department, the Buccaneers are in the midst of a run that collegiate athletics at any level may have never seen before. Dating back to December 10th, across their four different sports (Baseball, Softball, Mens & Women’s Basketball), FSW has won 54 straight games.

Bucs Win 22nd StraightFebruary 13, 2019The #13 Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers extended their win streak to 22 games Wednesday night in Suncoast Credit Union Arena, dominating visiting Hillsborough 103-66 to improve to 26-2 on the season.
