Boledovicova Blocks Way to Player of the Week Honors

TALLAHASSEE, Fla.- After leading the #1 Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers to a pair of Top 20 wins last week, FSW freshman Nina Boledovicova has been named the FCSAA Defensive Player of the Week as announced by the league Tuesday morning.

Boledovicova earned her first Defensive Player of the Week honor as a Buc after registering 12 blocks in two FSW wins last week.  She started her big week with a career high 7 stuffs including one solo rejection in a 3-0 win over #18 Daytona State.  She backed that up with another big performance on Saturday against #17 Polk State, leading a Bucs front line that limited the Eagles to just a .013 hitting percentage with 5 more blocks in a 3-1 Buccaneer victory.

On the season Boledovicova ranks second in the state in total blocks with 47 and third in blocks per set at 1.15.  She has at least one block in all 14 FSW matches this season and has registered four matches, including both last week with 5 or more.

Boledovicova and the Bucs are currently ranked #1 in the NJCAA National Rankings as the lone remaining unbeaten team in the Division I ranks at 14-0.

The Bucs will put their perfect record on the line on Wednesday when they take on #12 Eastern Florida in a 6 PM first serve from Suncoast Credit Union Arena in Fort Myers.
