Amin & Baker Named FSW Volleyball's First NJCAA All-Americans
CHARLOTTE, N.C.- Wednesday was another historic day in a season filled with historic firsts for the Florida SouthWestern State Volleyball program as Yasso Amin and Fiona Baker were named the Buccaneers' first NJCAA All-American's as announced by the National Office this afternoon.  
 
Amin was named a 1st Team NJCAA All-American after help lead the Bucs to their first Suncoast Conference Championship and first trip to the NJCAA National Tournament this spring. Amin ranked in the top 10 nationally this season, hitting .367 out of the middle while averaging 2.75 kills per set for the Bucs.  She was deadly at the service line, finishing with 61 aces this season which was second most in the NJCAA Division I ranks.  Also a force on the defensive side of the net, Amin ranked 7th in the country with 117 blocks this season, making her the only player in the country with 50 or more aces and 100 or more blocks on the year. She was named the Suncoast Conference Player of the Year and a 1st Team All-State selection for the Bucs while also being named to both the FCSAA State Tournament and NJCAA National Tournament All-Tournament teams.  She will play next season at NCAA Division I UTEP.  
 
Joining Amin on the All-American squad was freshman setter Fiona Baker.  Baker finished her rookie year 6th in the country with 992 assists and quarterbacked an FSW offense that finished in the top 10 in the country in hitting percentage at .260.  She was twice named the FCSAA Setter of the Week and earned the Bucs first NJCAA National Player of the Week award midway through the season.  She had eight matches of 40 or more assists this season and a pair of matches with 50 helpers. She was a 1st Team All-Suncoast Conference selection and was also a member of the FCSAA All-State Team.  
 
FSW was one of seven teams to have multiple All-Americans with National Champs Iowa Western the only team to have three.  Baker was one of just 10 freshmen to be named to any of the three teams.
