State High Three Bucs Named to FCSAA All-State Team

TALLAHASSEE, Fla.- In the midst of a historic season, the postseason awards continued to roll in for the Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers on Wednesday as a state high three Bucs were named to the FCSAA All-State Team, the first three FSW Volleyball players in history to earn the award. 

The Bucs only two-time 1st Team All-Conference performer, Julia De Sa was rewarded for a monster sophomore season with an 1st Team All-State nod.  De Sa ranked 7th in the state this season with 3.44 kills per set and hit .280 on the year, the third best mark of any outside with 200 or more kills. She was twice named the FCSAA Player of the Week including in week seven when she put up back to back 20 kill efforts for FSW.  Next season De Sa will play at the NCAA Division I level at James Madison University. 

Suncoast Conference Player of the Year Yasso Amin joined De Sa on the All-State team.  Amin led the FCSAA during the regular season with a .408 hitting percentage which is good for 4th nationally, while also pacing the state in aces per set with 0.72 and ranking third in blocks per set with 1.25. Her 303.5 points scored on the season were second most of any player in the FCSAA during the regular season. She has signed to play next season at NCAA Division I UTEP.

Last, but certainly not least as the woman getting the ball to De Sa and Amin, setter Fiona Baker.  Baker was one of three freshmen named to the All-State team after averaging 10.42 assists per set on the season which was second best in the state in 2021. She helped FSW to a .288 team hitting percentage which ranked 2nd to only Miami Dade during the regular season.

The Bucs three All-State selections were most of any program in the state with three other schools landing two on the list.

Erika Ascencio of Miami Dade was named the state's Player of the Year. 

11 of the FCSAA's 12 All-State selections will be on display in the postseason when it begins Thursday with the State Tournament hosted by Florida State College at Jacksonville in the River City.
