DAYTONA BEACH, Fla.- The Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers won their third straight game Saturday afternoon on the road in Daytona, jumping out to a big early lead and hanging on late for a 65-60 win over the Daytona State Falcons to improve to 8-4 in Citrus Conference play on the year.

The Bucs got off to a hot start, riding the back of sophomore Kiana Wilson to jump out to an 18-6 lead at the end of one quarter of play.

The teams played even in the second quarter, managing 13 points a side to give FSW a 31-19 lead as the teams went to the locker rooms at the half.

Daytona made things interesting in the third, exploding for 26 points to cut the Bucs lead to just three at 48-45 at the end of three quarters of action.

The Falcons pushed the Bucs to the wire, but FSW did enough in the end to hold on for a 65-60 win at the final horn.

It was a balanced scoring effort for FSW as 7 of their 10 dressed players had 6 or more points, led by Wilson's 13 and 12 from Makenna Shaffer.  No other stats were available at time of release.

The Bucs pick up their third straight win to improve to 12-8 overall and 8-4 in Citrus Conference play. The win, coupled with a Santa Fe win over Indian River gives FSW a game and a half lead for the #2 spot in the Citrus Conference standings. Daytona falls to 12-10 overall and 5-8 with the loss.

The Bucs will now turn their attention to the only team above them in the conference standings, the red hot Eastern Florida State TItans who will come into Suncoast Arena on Wednesday for a 5 PM tip riding a 17 game winning streak.
