Loss Drops Bucs in National Poll

CHARLOTTE, N.C.- A four point home loss to unranked Palm Beach State cost the Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers dearly in the week six NJCAA Women's Basketball Poll as the Bucs fell seven spots to land at #19 on this week's list.

The Bucs are 5-2, but have lost two of their past three after a 4-0 start to the year.  FSW picked up a quality win on Thursday when they defeated the #12 ranked team in NJCAA Division II Morton by a convincing 78-51 final, but couldn't carry that momentum into Saturday where they lost a 70-66 decision to Palm Beach in Southern Conference play.

The week six poll shot teams up, down, and all over the place after some midseason turmoil for the Nation's top teams.  The top three teams in the week five poll all lost last week, restructuring the top of the standings.  Chipola, via a win over previous #1 Northwest Florida State, takes over the top spot in the poll while Jones moves to the #2 slot, followed by Northwest Florida, Trinity Valley, and South Georgia Tech.  The Bucs are again one of five ranked teams from Florida in the polls with Chipola at #1, Northwest Florida at #3, Gulf Coast at #12, and Indian River, their opponent Saturday, at #23.

The Bucs will have a chance to get things right on Tuesday when they host New Horizons Prep in Suncoast Credit Union Arena in a 5 PM tip.
