Bucs Stick at #13 For Second Straight Week

Bucs Stick at #13 For Second Straight Week

CHARLOTTE, N.C.- The Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers remained steady in the NJCAA Top 25 rankings on Tuesday, sticking at #13 for the second straight week, marking their 12th straight poll over the past two seasons being ranked inside the top 20.

The 19-2 Bucs lead the nation in wins this season and are in the midst of a 15 game winning streak dating all the way back to November 16th.  FSW has dominated the competition during the stretch, playing just two games decided by single digits, those two, eight and nine point wins for the Purple and Aqua.  Since the calendar turned to 2019, the Bucs are 4-0, having won those four contests by a combined 149 points.

The poll had little change in week six with the same 25 teams being represented.  The top seven teams in the poll remained unchanged with Northwest Florida, Trinity Valley, and New Mexico leading the way.  The shuffle came at the bottom of the top 10 where Jones County and Chipola moved up a spot and Tallahassee dropped two due to a close loss to Chipola.

Region VIII continued to dominate the rankings with six teams in the top 25.  Aforementioned Northwest Florida at #1, Gulf Coast at #7, Chipola at #9, Tallahassee at #10, the Bucs at #13, and Pensacola State hanging on at #25.

FSW is back in action on Wednesday when they make the trip to Bradenton to take on IMG in non-conference action.  They return home to Suncoast Credit Union Arena on Saturday when they battle Eastern Florida State in a 2:00 tip in the first of three matchups this season.

SUNCOAST CREDIT UNION ARENA
The Buccaneers compete in the brand new Suncoast Credit Union Arena. Suncoast Credit Union Arena is approximately 75,000 square feet and is home to the FSW basketball teams and a student athletic center. The arena seats approximately 3,300 fans and includes six skyboxes, a hospitality event center, competition courts that convert into recreational courts, athletic office space, student, faculty and staff wellness, and an athletic center with a fitness pavilion, men's and women's locker rooms and a weight training area. The arena has two Daktronics displays, on the north and south walls, that each measure 10 feet high by 20 feet wide. Both displays incorporate variable content zoning to each show one large image or they can be divided into multiple windows to show any variety of live video, instant replays, up-to-the-minute statistics, graphics and animations, and sponsorship messages. One-hundred feet of ribbon displays have been installed on the east and west walls of the arena. The ribbons provide the opportunity to supplement the content on the main displays as well as highlight sponsors throughout events.
