Bucs Backstop Signs With Eastern Illinois

FORT MYERS, Fla.- Florida SouthWestern catcher Jenna Teakert is headed back to the Midwest next season after signing alongside her teammates at Eastern Illinois University on Spring Signing Day at FSW.

Teakert has seen action in 26 games for the Bucs this season as a freshman, hitting .229 with eight runs scored and six RBIs. She started her collegiate career with a bang, going 3-3 with a pair of stolen bases and a pair of runs scored in the Bucs season opening win over Georgia Military. She notched her first career RBI later on that day against St. Johns River and recorded her first extra base hit in FSW's game one win over Alverno later in the month.

Teakert and the Bucs are 52-6 heading into the 2024 postseason. FSW clinched their eighth straight Conference Championship on Saturday and are currently ranked #3 in the NJCAA National Poll.

Teakert is one of six Bucs inked to head to the next level in 2024-2025, joining teammates Sydney McCray (Grand Canyon), Lea Chevrier (Miami-Ohio), Sietske Drijvers (Mercer), Esmee Ames (Troy), and Ella Moore (Georgian Court).

Teakert and the Bucs will next take the field May 8th in Clearwater at the FCSAA State Tournament. They will learn their first round matchup Friday.
