Allegood Earns FCSAA Pitcher of the Week Honors

TALLAHASSEE, Fla.- For the first time in her Buccaneer career, Florida SouthWestern righthander Emily Allegood has been named the FCSAA Pitcher of the Week as announced by the state on Tuesday.

Allegood worked in two games for the Bucs last week, earning wins in both starts, going 6 1/3 scoreless innings in the process.  Tuesday she threw three hitless frames against State College of Florida, striking out four in a 12-0 FSW victory.  Saturday she drew the start against #14 Santa Fe and spun 3 1/3 scoreless innings, allowing just three hits while striking out four more as the Bucs rolled past the Saints 8-0.

On the season Allegood is 5-0 in the circle across 14 appearances, posting a 1.37 ERA with 36 strikeouts in 46 innings pitched.  Her time on the mound for the Bucs has been limited some because of the necessity of her bat in the middle of the Buccaneer order as she is also hitting .404 at the plate with 19 extra base hits and 42 RBIs on the year.

Allegood and the Bucs are back in action on Tuesday when they travel to Tampa to take on Hillsborough in a Citrus Conference doubleheader beginning at 4 PM.
