Bucs Ranked In Top 5 For 80th Straight Week

CHARLOTTE, N.C.- The last time the Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers were not ranked in the Top 5 in the NJCAA National Rankings, Barack Obama was President of the United States. For the 80th consecutive regular season poll, the Bucs were ranked inside the Top 5 this week, checking in at #3 with their 30-4 record on the year.

The Bucs won three of their four games last week to move to 30-4 on the year while still holding the top spot in the Citrus Conference standings at 17-3.  The Bucs dominated in a sweep of Hillsborough on Tuesday, blanking the Hawks in both games of the doubleheader while outscoring them 18-0.  Saturday things were a little bit tougher as they needed a late five run inning to take down Eastern Florida 5-4 before watching the Titans crack a three run, walk off home run in extra innings to take game two 7-6 and earn the split.

Undefeated McLennan continued to lead the poll while Northwest Florida checked in again at #2 in front of the Bucs.  Indian River moved up a spot to #4 to give the FCSAA three of the top four teams in the week five poll.

The Bucs are back in action on Tuesday at home when they host Miami Dade in a Citrus Conference doubleheader beginning at 2 PM.
