McCray's Red Hot Bat Earns Her FCSAA Player of the Week Honors
TALLAHASSEE, Fla.- To say Sydney McCray was a tough out last week at the Visit Dothan Invitational in Alabama would be an understatement, as the Florida SouthWestern sophomore hit .769 and stole eight bases in four games to earn this week's FCSAA Player of the Week award.

McCray recorded multiple hits and multiple stolen bases in all four FSW games last weekend in Alabama, leading the Bucs to a sweep of the four games. Friday against Shelton State she went a perfect 3-3 with two runs scored and a pair of stolen bases in a 9-1 FSW win in the battle of the Bucs.  Later in the day she went 2-3 with two more runs scored and two more stolen bases to lead the Bucs past Northwest Shoals 7-0.  Saturday it was more of the same as she was 2-3 with three runs scored and two stolen bases in a 7-2 win over Central Alabama and wrapped up the week in style with her second three hit game of the tournament while again scoring twice and swiping two bases in an 11-3 blowout of Southern Union. In four games on the week she finished 10-13 at the plate, good for a .769 batting average while scoring nine runs and stealing eight bases in eight opportunities.

On the season McCray is now hitting a cool .625 with 12 stolen bases and 13 runs scored in just eight FSW games.

McCray and the Bucs put their perfect 8-0 record on the line Thursday when they host Southern Idaho in a doubleheader beginning at 1 PM at Buccaneers Park in Fort Myers to kick off the 2024 Paradise Cove Tournament.
