Woods Heading to Syracuse

FORT MYERS, Fla.- Following an impressive career with the Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers, sophomore Paris Woods has signed her National Letter of Intent to play at Syracuse University next season.

Woods, the 2019 Suncoast Conference Female Student-Athlete of the Year, put together her second straight big year for the Purple and Aqua this season, hitting .406 with 13 doubles, four home runs, and 49 RBIs while also stealing 30 bases on the year.  For her efforts, she was named to two different All-American teams, NFCA (First Team) and NJCAA (Third Team), while also earning First Team All-State and First Team All-Conference honors.  Woods wrapped up her career at FSW with 117 hits in 104 games, hitting .402 with 22 doubles, five triples, six home runs, and 67 RBIs while successfully swiping 55 bases on 58 career attempts.

Syracuse finished 21-32 overall and 8-16 in Atlantic Coast Conference play this season, qualifying for the ACC Tournament for the fourth straight season.  Woods should have an opportunity to step in and compete for a starting spot right away as the Orange return just two outfielders to the mix for 2020.

With Woods signing with Syracuse, all six FSW sophomores are now inked and ready to head to their next school.  Woods joins fellow NCAA Division I signees Madison Johnson and Sarah Lawton who are headed to Florida Gulf Coast, as well as Kelsi Collins (Embry-Riddle), Alison Yawn (Warner), and Elsie Rivera (Keiser).
